Vivian Stone of Martinsville and formerly of Ridgeway, VA transitioned on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Sovah Health-Martinsville. She was born December 27, 1956 a daughter of the late Robert and Eliza Hairston Holland.
Vivian attended George Washington Carver and Drewry Mason High School. She majored in Math and History at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. She was passionate about public service. She dedicated several years working for the federal and state government. Vivian served in the United States Army Reserves, rising to the rank of Captain. Vivian was well-rounded having spent several years living abroad outside of Manilla, Philippines and London, England. She was the pianist of Antioch Baptist Church in Ridgeway and First Baptist Church in Martinsville.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Shannetta Stone, of Richmond, VA; and Nina Stone, of Houston, TX; two sons, Monte Stone, of Fontana, CA; and Geno Stone, of Chicago, IL; one sister, Patricia Ziglar, of Danville, VA; 6 grandchildren and one great grandson.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 3:00 at Hines Funeral Services Chapel with Evangelist Toni Ramey Webster, officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery 711 Church Street Ridgeway, VA. A public viewing will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services.
