Nickie Fernandas Hairston

Nickie Fernandas Hairston, 61 of Martinsville, VA departed this life on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Martinsville Health and Rehab Center.  He was born in Martinsville, VA a son of the late Rufus and Sarah Belcher Hairston.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Reba Michelle Hairston.

He was formerly employed at Bassett Funeral Services and was a member of Horsepasture Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by two daughters, Catice Johnson, of Troy, VA; and Ciarra Johnson, of Welcome, NC; one son, Naquias Johnson, of Martinsville, VA; two sisters, Ramona "Mona" Hairston, of Woodbridge, VA; and Tamma Hairston, of Martinsville, VA; three brothers, Rufus and Vincent Hairston, of Martinsville, VA and William Hairston, of South Boston, VA; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday September 13, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Dr. Matthew Brown officiating.  Interment will be private.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one half hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home of a brother (Rufus) 717 Oneida Street Martinsville, VA.  A public viewing will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services Chapel.
