Mary Moyer

Mrs. Mary P. Moyer 97, of Ridgeway, VA transitioned on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at her home.  She was born May 29, 1927 a daughter of the late Robert and Annie Prilliman Johnson.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Green Penn and her second husband, Willie Moyer; two daughters, Hiawatha Mitchell and Dr. Annie Webb; four brothers, Robert, James, Howard and Samuel Johnson and three grandsons.

Sis. Mary was employed by Hampco Apparel and was retired from the Henry County School system.  She was a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church where she was honored for 50 plus years as minister of music and she also served as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher and on the Missionary ministries.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Margie Dillard, of Martinsville, VA; Dr. Mary (Juner) Norris, of Atlanta, GA; and Minister Johnsie Gallant, of Las Vegas, NV; two sons, Jesse Penn, of the home, and William Penn, of Atlanta, GA; son-in-law, Charles E. Webb, Sr., of Atlanta, GA 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Funeral sservices will be held Monday, June 10, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Greater International Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Antonio Logan, officiating.  Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the church one half hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home (Friday - Sunday) at 403 George Martin Drive, Ridgeway, VA from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at other times.  A public viewing will be held Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services.
