Joe Louis Wilson

Mr. Joe Louis Wilson, 87, of Axton, VA transitioned on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at his home.  He was born June 28, 1937 in Pittsylvania County, VA a son of the late Willie and Hattie Cabiness Wilson.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Ned, Orlando E., Charlie, John (Sambo) William and Wade Wilson and three sisters, Lessie Mae Borum, Lottie Carter and Annie Mae Divens.

He was retired from Bassett Superior Lines.

He is survived by three daughters, Whitney Sligh, of Martinsville, VA; Cheryl Starling, of Danville, VA; and Carol (James) Perkins, of Danville, VA; one son, Bernard Wilson, of Willow Springs, NC; 7 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 9, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services Chapel with Rev.Larry Daye, Presiding and Rev, Dr. Jimmy Tarpley, Eulogist.  Burial will follow in New Design Baptist Church cemetery in Axton, VA.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one half hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home at 3121 Wyatt Farm Road, Axton, VA at other times.  A public viewing will be held Sunday September 8, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services.
