James Henry Gravely

Mr. James Henry Gravely, 97, of Martinsville, VA transitioned on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Sovah Health Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry County.  He was born in Henry County, VA a son of the late Henry and Ortry Woods Gravely.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Norine Gravely and two brothers, Clayborn and Eugene Gravely.

He was retired from the Henry County School system and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, James Junior Gravely and Michael Anthony Gravely both of Martinsville, VA; three sisters, Olivia Gravely, Della Gravely and Juanita Hairston, all of Martinsville, VA; 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Hines Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Tyler Millner, officiating.  Burial will follow in Morning Star Holy Church Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one half hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home at 4839 Chatham Road, Martinsville, VA from 12 to 6 PM at other times. A public viewing will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 from 1 to 5 PM at Hines Funeral Services.
