Barbara Chavis

Mrs. Barbara Chavis, 80, of 703 Forest Street, Martinsville, VA transitioned on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at he home.  She was born in Statesville, NC a daughter of the late Isaiah and Bessie Byers Miller on September 28, 1943.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Chavis and her sister, Beverly Ann Norman.

She was a member of St. Paul High Street Baptist Church and was retired from the Henry County Public School System.  She was a member of the VEA and NEA.

Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Mark D. Chavis, of Charlotte, NC.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul High Street Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Brown, officiating.  Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the church one half hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home on Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services.
