John Henry Carter

John Henry "Skie" Carter, 77, of Axton, VA transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday March 28, 2025 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He was born December 19, 1947 a son of the late Norman and Elizabeth Hairston Carter.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Hodge Carter and one son, Kevin Carter.

He was the self employed as the owner of Carter Paint and body shop in Axton, VA and was a member of Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, Brian Carter of the home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Waddell G. Jones, presiding and Rev. Dr. Eric F. Hairston, Eulogist.  Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the church one half hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home on Tuesday and Wednesday April 2 and 3, 2025 from 2:00 to 7:00 PM.  A public viewing will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2025 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services.
