Mr. James Herbert Wade, 82, of Martinsville, VA transitioned on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Sovah Health-Martinsville. He was born in Henry County, VA on February 15, 1943 a son of the late Howard L. and Carrie Nance Wade.
He was retired from Bassett-Walker after 25 years of service was was the owner of Wade's Upholstery. He was also a member of Shiloh Way of the Cross Church and a volunteer with the Axton Volunteer Fire Department.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Mary Hairston Wade, of the home; three daughters, Alethia Vonn, of Riverdale, GA; Akua N. Zenzele, of Baltimore, MD; and Jasmine Wade, of Virginia Beach, VA; six step daughters, Lori (Glen) Hairston, of Ridgeway, VA; Vickie (Keith) Gravely, of Axton, VA; Tammie Carter and Vanessa Carter, both of Danville, VA; Anita (Randolph) Niblett. of Bassett, VA;and Tina Carter, of Martinsville, VA; and one sister, Thelma Wade, of Martinsville, VA; 4 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held Monday, August 25, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Shiloh Way of the Cross Church with Bishop Christopher Hairston, officiating. Burial will follow in the Wade Family Cemetery in Axton, VA. The family will receive friends at the church one half hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home at 2204 Stoney Mountain Road at other times
