James Lee "Tommie Joe" Turner of 704 1/2 Second Street Martinsville, VA departed this life on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 At Woltz Hospice in Dobson, NC. He was born July 27, 1944 in Martinsville a son of the late James and Easter Turner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister.
He was formerly employed by Norfork-Southern Railway. James enjoyed fishing, golfing and riding his moped.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Yolanda (Marvin) Muse, of Axton, VA; and Tammy (Thomas) Hamlet, of Martinsville, VA two sons, Brian Keith (Dana) Law, of Martinsville, VA; Doug (Vernita) Law, of Knoxville, TN; one cousin, Joe Brown (Gloria) Gravely, of Martinsville, VA; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Carver Memorial Gardens with Bishop Alan Preston, officiating. A public viewing will be held Monday, September 15, 2025 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services chapel.
