Irene Elizabeth (Wray) Jamison

Irene Elizabeth Wray Jamison, 97, of Martinsville, VA transitioned on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at her residence.  She was born July 7, 1928 a daughter of the late Grady and Hillie Kidd Wray, Sr.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Jamison; two sisters, Gladys W. Gravely and Myrtle W. Deering and one brother, Grady Wray, Jr.

She was retired from E. I. Dupont and Dollar General.  Irene was the oldest member of Mountain Valley Missionary Baptist Church where she served as church clerk; the Missionary ministry, and the Culinary Ministry.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Brenda Jamison, of Brentwood, MD; Barbara Holland of Martinsville, VA; and Beverly Jamison, of San Diego, CA; three sons, Bruce Jamison, of Portsmouth, VA; Bernard Jamison, of Ridgeway, VA; and Boyd Jamison, of Brandywine, MD; one sister, Lillian Perkins, of Martinsville, VA; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John Breedlove , eulogist.  The family will receive friends at the church one half hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home at 21 Landover Drive, Martinsville, VA at other times.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Danville, VA.

A public viewing will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services.
