Ida Bell Hairston, 81, of 590 Northfork Road, Martinsville, VA transitioned on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Sovah Health Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry County. She was born in Pittsylvania County VA a daughter of the late Ivory and Camellia Watkins Hairston. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Rodney "Snow Ball" Hairston, two sisters and one brother.
She was retired from Owens Glass Company and was a member of Refuge Temple Ministries.
Those left to cherish her memories include two daughters, Theresa Bethune, of Axton, VA; and Jeana Hairston, of Martinsville, VA; four sons, Byron Hairston, Glen (Lori) Hairston, and Ivan Hairston, of Martinsville, VA; and Tony (Maria) Hairston, of Moneta, VA; one son/grandson, David Hairston, of Martinsville, VA; one sister, Mildred Price, of Donora, PA; 20 grandchildren and numerous grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held Friday, March 24, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Hairston Family Cemetery on Old Liberty Drive in Axton, VA with Elder Alan Preston, officiating.
A public viewing will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services and will be at the home of a daughter (Jeana) 1309 Roundabout Road, Martinsville, VA at other times.
The family requests that when visiting the home please adhere to all Covid-19 protocols which include face coverings and social distancing.
